Springs hijacking: Thieves snatch delivery van within seconds [video]

A well-organised group of thieves managed to drive away with the contents of a RAM delivery van this week, as several hijackers executed their heinous plan to perfection in Springs, Johannesburg. The company have confirmed that a police investigation is underway, with at least four suspects involved in the hijacking.

Springs delivery van stolen “within a minute”

As the vehicle pulls out of its compound, a white van then obstructs its path to the main road before driving into the targeted motor. The driver tries to retreat, but the wheels are already in motion. Two of the thugs storm the yard, brandishing firearms and threatening to shoot the workers on-site.

The security guards are out-gunned and out-manned, rendering them useless. One can be seen running away as the van is stolen. Both the passenger and driver’s side doors are opened, as two of the criminals make light work of securing their victim’s car.

No fatalities during armed hijacking

The driver forced to give-up his seat at the wheel has to be commended for his calm demeanour throughout. He doesn’t try to fight back and complies with the hijackers, who ultimately spare him from any harm. The victim can be seen walking across the car park towards the end of the video.

Once the group have seized control of the van, they make a break for it. They speed off down the road, completing a swift smash-and-grab in under 60 seconds. The incident happened at 10:00 on Wednesday, and the footage has gone viral online – it’s been viewed over 50 000 times on various social media platforms.
