New geo-dome luxury accommodation option in Tulbagh
Tulbagh’s accommodation offering has just grown with the introduction of a new luxe geo-dome, offering guests an experience of tranquilityin the truest sense.
The Tulbagh geo-dome
The dome is situated among nature, and designed for the ultimate immersion in your surroundings. From the geo-dome, you’ll be surrounded by water and trees in a private spot on a 270 hectare farm. It is about 10km from the historical Tulbagh.
You can sit back and relax in an outdoor tub, while watching the flowing waters of a nearby river. If you’d prefer a shower, there’s that too, as well as deck areas (yes that’s right, there are a couple at different levels) which present guests with incredible views – especially at sunset!
The geo-dome itself is a structural beauty, complemented by the on-trend decor inside. It provides one with the kind of accommodation you’ll want to add to your bucket list, asap!
The self-catering dome has a fully kitted kitchen. It is equipped with electricity and a gas stove, along with everything you need to prepapre and share a home-cooked meal. From the surrounding nature itself, guests are welcome to pick fresh fruit, or to drink the fresh mountain water.
The Witzenburg Mountain range forms the backdrop to this wondrous escape. The dome is a luxe, modern accommodation offering, unlike any of those nearby who offer old-world charm, including that of La Bruyere farm which also belongs to the owners.
“The structure is galvanised steel covered by PVC material. The idea was birthed by myself after travelling the world for seven months and realising the most memorable moments were always the unique and unusual. My new found appreciation for our family farm, mixed with the growing demand for experiential stays eventually led to a search down into a ‘glamping’ rabbit hole and eventually finding something similar on a Patagonian Pintrest board,” says Thor Normann from La Bruyere guest farm.
The dome is sealed from wind and rain. For the hotter days, there is a fan and, of course, many trees where one can seek refuge in the shade – otherwise, simply jump into the dam.
“The dome has been strategically placed in a spot on the farm where you are surrounded by nature and cannot see any sign of human life. Guests are encouraged to relax, swim, star gaze and for the more active we have hiking, the cape epic cycle route and fishing in the dam” says Normann.
The dome is available for booking via Airbnb.
