Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting heavy downpours, large amounts of small hail and damaging winds is expected over ther southern areas of Limpopo, the escarpment areas of Mpumalanga as well as over the northern and central parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the south-western parts of the North West and the central and northern parts of the Northern Cape.

Temperature and UBV forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers from the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very high.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the north, with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the southern parts.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy in the east with isolated thundershowers.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine, becoming partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated thundershowers in the east.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy along the coast with morning fog, otherwise fine and warm to hot but cool along the coast and the southern high-ground.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly in the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Mostly cloudy with early morning fog along the west coast and light rain expected during the morning and early afternoon for the south-west coast, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm. It will become sunny over the northern and central interior during the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-westerly to westerly becoming moderate south-westerly to southerly in the afternoon. It will become light south-easterly along the south coast from evening.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Cloudy and cool but warm over the interior with light rain in the south-east from morning.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly.

The Eastern half Temperature: Cloudy and cool but warm in the north with light rain south of the escarpment.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly becoming south-westerly in the afternoon
