Khune reveals SHOCKING details of how he joined Kaizer Chiefs!
Kaizer Chiefs legend Ituemeleng Khune has revealed some rather surprising details regarding how he joint the Amakhosi!
Khune joined the Glamour Boys as a 12-year-old in 1999 on a trial basis. The trial however went horribly wrong for the Ventersdorp youngster.
Khune initially came to Kaizer Chiefs as a striker but was unable to impress the development coaching staff with his attacking abilities.
He then reverted to a defender but once again failed to impress during his second trial at the club.
Finally, Ituemeleng Khune switched his position to a goalkeeper with the hope of earning a spot in the Amakhosi academy before being accepted at the club!

“The coach was like, ‘guys, if you know any of the goalkeepers that you can bring, please recommend’,” Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Ituemeleng Khune told the Amakhosi media team during an interview.
“And I was like, ‘coach can I come back as a goalkeeper?’ he was like, ‘you failed as a defender, you failed as a striker and now you want to come back as a goalkeeper?’
“He was like, ‘Okay, you can come’, On Thursday I came back for training, and I had my first session as a goalkeeper that day. I trained on the day, I played, and he registered me at Kaizer Chiefs by Friday. On saturday, we were playing our first match,”
Ituemeleng Khune has ammased over 320 appearances for the Glamour Boys since being promoted to the first team. He has also earned 91 Bafana Bafana caps since 2008.
The 34-year-old has won three league titles at Kaizer Chiefs while also lifting the Telkom Knockout title (thrice), the Nedbank Cup (thrice) and the MTN8 (four times).
