Kaizer Chiefs: Have those players with Covid been identified?
Suspensions and positive Covid-19 cases forced Kaizer Chiefs to make no fewer than SIX changes to their starting line-up for Sunday’s DStv Premiership clash against Swallows.

There was no mention made whether or not those who returned positive Covid results did so with the new Omicron variant.
The Soweto derby clash took place at the Dobsonvile Stadium and Amakhosi ran out comfortable 3-1 winners despite their off-field challenges.

Prior to kick-off Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter confirmed – without naming names – that the club had a “few cases of Covid”.
Baxter said: “We have a few cases of Covid and the suspensions (of Njabulo Blom and Cole Alexander). In addition, we have the normal injuries that everyone else has.”

Blom was suspended for an accumulation of yellow cards while Alexander sat out the match after his red card against AmaZulu last time out.
Kaizer Chiefs moved into second spot in the standings
Blom was replaced by Ramahlwe Mphahlele, while Anthony Akumu Agay came in for Alexander.
The other four changes could’ve been due to either Covid or injury – or simply dropped.

Austin Dube replaced Reeve Frosler, Kearyn Baccus started in place of Njabulo Ngcobo, Khama Billiat got the nod ahead of Kgaogelo Sekgota and Happy Mashiane filled in for Phathutshedzo Nange in Kaizer Chiefs’ midfield.

The win moved the Glamour Boys into second place in the standings with 22 points after 13 matches.
They trail log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by eight points and have played one more match.

If the season were to end today, Amakhosi would claim a coveted CAF Champions League spot – along with the Brazilians – as they did the season before last.
Kaizer Chiefs will next be in action at home against 10th-placed Cape Town City FC on Saturday, 4 December at 18:00.
